Excellent family park, plenty of wildlife, boat rentals, fishing, swimming.they. Senior Citizen (62 or older) or military member: $5 per. The charges are: Motor vehicle: $7 per day. However, there are a few exceptions for Falls Lake, Jordan Lake, and Kerr Lake State Rec Area in the summer months (Memorial Day to Labor Day and weekends in April, May, and September). Most of the North Carolina state parks are free to enjoy. With a few picnic areas, 2 short hiking trails, and a small fishing pond, I have to say that I was not overwhelmed by the options or scenery, especially compared to Hanging Rock State Park, which sits a few miles to the west. Mayo River State Park is one of North Carolina's newest state parks.
